Found-Breton oversized tee!!

On Saturday I decided not to go to the boot sale as I'd had a busy week at work and felt too tired to walk all of it-once I'm there, I can't just do a part of it, I have to do it all, in case I'm missing out on anything!!

Instead I went into town and had a browse. I managed to get a silver lurex bolero cardi from H&M for half price-£5 and of course I had a look in the charity shops.

Even though I had bought my Jane Norman navy and white striped camisole vest, I still was hankering over an oversized tee and also preferably an authentic Breton one. I had scanned ebay, but didn't see anything I liked. So, I was very pleased to come across this one from Armor Lux, an authentic Breton clothing company

Fete Des Mouettes is also an annual event held at Douarnenez, so I assume these tees were specially made by Armor Lux for the occasion.
It was only £1-tres bon, I believe, LOL!!

Weekly Magazine Fix......Or maybe not!!

I do love my weekly and monthly fix of magazines, my must buys are the monthly Elle and Vogue and I occasionally buy Harpers Bazaar too.

On a weekly basis, I don't always buy a magazine, although if I do, Grazia is my main magazine of choice and sometimes I choose Look instead. I think Look is around £1.50 and Grazia is now £1.95.

So, when I was in Tescos yesterday, I flew over to the magazines and had a quick skim at both, but was undecided whether to have one for the week.

I detoured over to the clothing section as I haven't been in Tescos for ages and fancied a look at what was on offer. This top in a green stripe colourway was reduced from £3.50 to £1.50- a right bargain and was quickly swooped on and bought instead of my magazine for the week!!

Its quite amazing how an item of new clothing can be bought for less than your favourite weekly magazine-I wore it yesterday and will have it longer than what I would have had the magazine, so this was my bargain of the week!!

Summer Wishlist-Almost there!!

A couple of weeks ago on 'My Wardrobe' Post, I named a few things on my wishlist. Here are a couple of things I've managed to get already:

I've been after a denim waistcoat for ages-the perfect one, that is. I struck gold with this vintage Levis Orange tab one, which is fitted and ideal for wearing over vests or bodycon dresses. Its from the Sue Ryder charity shop and was a bargainous £3.95.

I still had wanted a navy and white striped top, but decided against an oversized tee, as I have a few already. I got this lovely little Jane Norman vest at the boot sale last week for only 50p!! I also got some more jeans-a pair of Miss Selfridge bleached, pale denim skinny jeans, which will be perfect for summer and a pair of Topshop dark stretch denim bootcut jeans, ideal for evenings and Autumn.

Have you still anything on the summer wishlist?

Another necklace to the collection.......

My local charity shop turned up trumps with this gorgeous find, a hematite bead necklace, which is great quality and only £1.95-a definite must have for my newly growing costume jewellery collection

It will also go with my hematite ring that I got from Turkey around 20 years ago

Costume jewellery thrifted is a great excuse for shopping on a budget-try it!!

Thrift Inspiration, Doing it KJL Style!!

So, following on from 'My Wardrobe' post, I'm still keen to look out for accessories, particularly necklaces. Sadly the QVC necklaces didn't 'do it' enough for me to keep either of them, so they were sent back.

Two Saturdays ago at the boot sale my one and only purchase was a wooden bead necklace for only 50p, which is shown in the 2nd picture.

The 1st picture shows a Kenneth Jay Lane rosewood bubble necklace, which is available at Bunnyhug.co.uk for £32.30

Kenneth Jay Lane, £32.30

Boot sale, natural wood bead necklace, 50p

D&G have a red, white and blue bead necklace which is really cute too-will you be in beads this summer?

Birthday Update

Firstly, I'd like to say a massive Thank You to everyone who left a comment wishing me a Happy Birthday, you are all so kind and these wishes just made my birthday all the more special, so THANKS TO YOU ALL!!

My birthday evening was spent in London, as we were going for a meal and then staying at a hotel near Tower Bridge.

This is me just before going out, with champagne in my mug to celebrate, as I forgot to bring glasses with us!!

I'm wearing my body con black and grey dress from Jane Norman with my Jean Paul Gaultier waistcoat over the top and patent peep toe shoes by Clarks. The necklaces were birthday gifts from my mother in law-I did not keep the Kenneth Jay Lane ones from QVC, as they weren't really 'doing it' enough for me-just as well, as I love the ones she bought!!

The back view of my JPG waistcoat!!

Brick Lane was our destination for dinner and its a great place for a night out-including shopping, LOL!! Papadoms was our restaurant of choice after I'd bought myself a dress first!!

Round the corner from the Truman Brewery is a lovely little boutique called Traffic People. I bought a lovely pink silk dress in their sale for only £15-I will do a post on this boutique and also the dress later, as its such a gorgeous place.

After a gorgeous Indian meal, we walked back to the hotel, so I could get changed into flat shoes, which then resulted in a change of outfit too, LOL!!

I'm wearing my new grey Uniqlo tee, Jean Paul Gaultier waistcoat and my Diesel denim skirt. We then had a beautiful walk from Tower Bridge to London Bridge, crossing it and walking back on the South Bank to walk across Tower Bridge. We then stopped off in a pub right by the hotel for a nightcap-or four and then headed back to the hotel.

So all in all, a lovely 40th birthday and this morning after an all you can eat breakfast, we checked out and I went to.................... the boot sale of course, LOL!!

Whats in your wardrobe?

Hi everyone!!

Its always fun to have a nose in other peoples wardrobes, so I thought I'd give you a snapshot of whats in mine!!

After a sort out of the unwanted items in my wardrobe, now bound for the charity shop, this is how my wardrobe and drawers look:

Bags are at the bottom of the wardrobe above

Closed drawers are our underwear drawers!!

I no longer have anything in storage, its all in my 2 wardrobes (1 wardrobe of coats and jackets and 1 wardrobe of dresses, jeans, bags and tops) and I have 2 drawers of woollies, 1 drawer of dresses, 1 drawer of tees and tunics, 1 drawer of blouses and 1 drawer of skirts.

As I wear a uniform for work, I really don't get to maximise my wardrobe, so unless I see a 'must have', I'll be buying less and wearing what I have already a lot more. My philosophy in my wardrobe is 'quality over quantity', I'd rather have less and appreciate the pieces I have, rather than a lot of items that I'm just not keen on.

So, to date this month, I've not bought any clothes! Not because of finances really, more because I've bought so many pieces over the last year that:

1. I've not worn a lot of them

2. I've felt a wardrobe overload

3. I've realised I don't have a lot of costume jewellery to compliment my existing clothes

So, to rectify this, I've decided to:

1. Try and buy only costume jewellery this month or items from my wishlist

2. Send the now sorted, unwanted items to the charity shop that are currently overloading the wardrobe, no longer fit in with 'my style' so I'm now only left with the 'truly loved items', which can be seen above!!

I'm aiming to up my accessories though, so I'm on the hunt for costume jewellery such as necklaces, earrings and bracelets.

I do have a 'wishlist' though!!

1. Dark skinny jeans

2. Navy and white striped oversized tee

3. Red patent shoes

4. Leopardprint shoes

5. Denim waistcoat

So, I'm aiming for these items first before I buy anything else!!

Whats on your wishlist for this summer?

And more importantly-because I'm so nosey, how does my wardrobe compare in size to yours??

QVC + Pearls=Birthday Presents!!

I'm shopping around for birthday presents at the moment and I'd like some necklaces that will last a long time and be a memorable reminder of my 40th birthday.

So I was pleased to see QVC come up trumps with their range from Kenneth Jay Lane, which includes a set of pearls, which I really wanted

This first necklace is the 'Kenneth Jay Lane Paris Couture' necklace, which I chose in the purple colourway

The 2nd set is an ultra long set of pearls, which can be strung at least a couple of times around the neck.

Kenneth Jay Lane, the King of costume jewellery, counts former first ladies Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Nancy Regan, Barbara Bush and Hillary Clinton as satisfied clients-so if its good enough for them, its a fabulous choice for me!!

So, I'm just awaiting delivery of my chosen presents and as long as I'm happy, I'll be showing them off!

7.6.09

AC DC for less!!

This rock tee is available at My-Wardrobe.com from Junk Food Tees for £18.50

This AC DC tee was only 50p from the boot sale a few months back and its an authentic tour tee too!

Its not my style, so it was great that my eldest son decided he wanted it!!

Thrift inspiration, Doing it Sequins Style!!

Sequins are a hot look again this summer-check out these gorgeous pieces available at Net-A-Porter which will definitely have you glittering and adding some sparkle to your outfits:

Adam sequin tank, £348

Yves Saint Laurent sequin jumpsuit, £2455

I bagged this vintage sequin waistcoat last summer at the boot sale for just £1. Its a great piece that I wear dressed down with jeans during the day.

Will you be in sequins this summer?

3.6.09

Tribal trend and Ikat prints

The Tribal trend and particularly Ikat prints are very much in trend this summer-its a fabulous style print that works so well on blouses, skirts and dresses

I scored a gorgeous French Connection Ikat print tunic blouse recently, a great way of getting into the trend and a versatile piece that can be dressed up or down.

I've paired the top with my denim jeggings, my Moroccan belt for a more Tribal feel and my tan Gladiatior style shoes by Clarks

Will you be channeling Ikat prints and Tribal this summer?

Denim shorts

Our weather has been absolutely hot, hot, hot this weekend, so on Saturday I decided to customise my Levi's low slouch jeans into shorter denim shorts. I was pleased to read in the Times that Shane Watson, who is in her 40's, thinks that shorts for older women is definitely a goer.

Zara shorts, £29

I've been wearing my cut offs all weekend-they're perfect for the weather at the moment and they are very comfy for just chilling out

Will you be customising any denim for this summer?
