Thrift Inspiration.....Doing it 70s Style for Summer 2015!!

Hi everyone! Like a lot of style bloggers I'm really inspired lately by all things 70s and 70 style- soft tobacco hues in suede and leather for jackets, boots and handbags are the perfect accompaniment for cream crotchet peasant tops and flared denims or the perfect denim 70s style skirt.

So accordingly I've been taking my inspiration from the Spring/Summer designer catwalks, pinterest and fellow bloggers to find the perfect thrifted pieces that will be featured a lot in my Spring and Summer wardrobe this year:

Chloe Spring/Summer 2015

This is a find from last Autumn and is a deliciously soft tobacco suede shirt/jacket from a neighbouring towns St Francis Hospice charity shop and was just an amazing £2. The picture doesn't do it justice really-it's as new and a perfect nod to the 70s style theme of the season:

I'm so loving cream crochet and lace for the summer and two more fairly recent finds inspired by the likes of the ladies below at Milan Fashion Week will see my purchases being worn regularly with the perfect 70s style denim pieces:

This crochet lace peasant top feels like cheesecloth but is a very light jersey and I picked it up just before Christmas from my local Salvation Army charity shop for just £3.99:

This original 70s Marks & Spencer crochet waistcoat was a bargain find last week again from the Salvation Army for £3.99 and I'll wear it as a top with just a couple of the top buttons done up:

Well when I saw this Gucci handbag on pinterest I really swooned- who wouldn't want this in their wardrobe not only for this season but as a forever investment piece-totally and utterly divine!!

So on yesterdays thrifting trip I was really pleased to find this original 70s leather bag for just £5 in the Cancer Research charity shop- this will be my go to bag this Summer for sure, I'm loving the chain belt detail, the colour and how it will go with endless items already in my wardrobe:

I love it when my son comes thrift shopping with me as he's definitely got the eye for it and tends to look in places I've missed-which is just as well because he found my star buy for the year so far- an authentic vintage Gucci belt for only £5!!

Not only did I need a black belt, I've wanted a Gucci belt for such a long time but finding a preloved or vintage one in the right size has been like finding a needle in a haystack but my boy came up trumps! Can't wait to wear this with some perfect denim flares and a yet to be purchased 70s style denim skirt!!

So as usual denim is on my radar for this season, I really want to find the perfect style skirt and I'm lucky that I've already got some fabulous Topshop thrifted flares and some French Connection ones that I thrifted in my local Sue Ryder charity shop last Autumn for under a fiver!!

So is 70s style on your shopping list this Summer- what pieces are inspiring you and where are getting inspiration from- I'd love you to share!

Wishing you a lovely week and look forward to receiving your lovely comments too!

Outfit Post & Current ThriftMyStyle Summer Style Obsessions- Lace, Embroidery, Espadrilles and Denim

Hi everyone! After hearing the weather report on Wednesday evening for Thursday to Saturday I was really ready to embrace summer dressing-bare legs, dress and some summer sun ready to sit out in and enjoy. Alas, the outfit was there on Thursday but definitely no summer sun to radiate in!
Style obsessions are currently lace, embroidery and denim and in various mixes for good measure. This outfit features a thrift find from last Sunday- a Gap slim fit denim jacket in exactly the shade I've been looking for this coming summer. I was at a local boot sale on Sunday and saw it on a ladies rail, so I asked the price and she said £2. Definitely cheap enough but for some reason I said to her 'Will you take £1.50?' We both burst out laughing at the same time and I'm sure it was because of my cheek but she said yes and off I went!

I'm wearing one of my items from the clothes swap party a couple of months ago, a Topshop blush pink lace dress. It's sleeveless and backless and is an ideal length for me and so perfect as a daytime summer dress if I wear it with denim. I'm also wearing some tan sandals which I thrifted a couple of summers ago- they are Clarks and were from my local Sue Ryder charity shop for around £8:

My new pinterest board, Crafted Style-Embroidery, Lace et Al is quickly expanding with images of everything embroidered, lace and summer boho orientated:

With this inspiration in mind I stopped off in another local town for a spot of charity shop thrifting this morning as the boot sale didn't appeal weatherwise and found this charming embroidered lace cotton camisole by Fat Face in the £1 Sense charity shop:

It's a replacement for one I stupidly put in the charity shop bag a couple of years ago for no good reason and will be perfect under denim jackets and waistcoats and summer blazers too.

Another style inspiration that's been hot on my mind are espadrilles and slides so how chuffed I was to find an unusual mix of the two earlier as well- they are Pare Gabia espadrilles made in France and were in the Sue Ryder charity shop for £3.95:

Brand new too and a much needed addition to my summer wardrobe, these will get worn a lot and will go with so much that I have already.

Unfortunately the sun shows no sign of returning any time soon where I am and my feet are freezing- I may have to get the socks and boots out  ;- (

What is on your style radar at the moment- are you shopping for summer and if so do you have current obsessions of the moment?

Have a lovely Easter weekend and I hope the sun is shining for the rest of you, wherever you are!!

7 For All Mankind cut offs and Topshop- Thrift outfit of the day

Hi everyone!! I hope you all had a great weekend. Yesterday was spent at a new to us boot sale and sailing along the river in a little electric motor boat which was a lot of fun, especially as a passenger! No photos unfortunately as I was enjoying the tranquility and scenery too much!

I decided that for clambering in and out of a boat required a fairly casual outfit, so I wore my 7 For All Mankind cut offs which I remember buying as jeans around 2002 in a now disappeared charity shop. I can't  believe that I can still get into a pair of jeans that are more than 10 years old, hehe!! I paired them with another thrift find from the boot sale a few months ago, a metallic silvery gold textured tee by Topshop which was just £2:

It looks like it's a heavy material, but is really quite lightweight and airy and I really like the design of it too-this was my nod to the metallic trend this Summer season:

I've also been wearing my hair in bunches a lot lately, it's been so windy and my hair is at that in between stage in that it can't all go up properly into one ponytail but in all honesty it feels so much more comfortable and cooler this way. Footwear are just some leather and sequin slides that are so sturdy and comfy- I seem to have used that description a lot in this post- I suppose I'm showing my age!!

I've been so slack with posting regularly and commenting so apologies to all my regular readers and commenters if I've not visited you lately. I do actually read a lot of posts via bloglovin' which is a really guilty pleasure of mine when I'm in between working at home and my volunteer work.

Wishing you a really good week ahead and I'm linking this post to the lovely Patti at NotDeadYetStyle for Visible Monday.

Thrift Inspiration........Doing it Net-A-Porter Style for Floral Trousers

Hi everyone! One item that has been on my summer wishlist for a while is a pair of printed cotton summer trousers. I've been a bit late to jump onto this trend, but with enough summer dresses in my wardrobe I really wanted to try and hunt down a pair of stylish comfortable pants that would see me through this season.

There are certainly lots of prints and styles available and on Net-A-Porter they have some really inspiring and colourful designs that are perfect for Summer. Here are my favourite picks- I so love the Erdem pair which are currently in the sale, but sadly out of my price budget!!

Chloe pants, £410

Erdem pants, £168

Michael Kors pants, £250

Rag & Bone, £189

So I was really pleased to find my perfect pair early this week- they are by Marks and Spencer and were bought from the Cancer Research charity shop for just £3.50. They have a nice slouchy feel to them and tapered to the ankle, which was the sort of style I was after. The colours of the pants are black and beige, perfect neutrals which will work with practically any colour tee or vest top too:

I'm wearing them with a pair of thrifted Topshop sandals from last years boot sale, I'm sure they were only a couple of pounds:

I know these are going to be a favourite to wear over the next few weeks and I'll certainly snap up any more similar pairs that I see- better late to the trend than never, haha!!

Are you wearing printed trousers this summer- if so, what brands do you recommend for quality, fit, design and print? Wishing you all a really good weekend too!!

Pops of Neon- Outfit Post

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend, the weather here in the UK has been really great- I even managed to have a lie in my hammock on Saturday afternoon, I really think Spring has arrived-hurray!!

Yesterday I also reorganised my wardrobe so all of my summer clothes were easily accessible. Summer skirts, blouses and tees are all now at hand to start wearing and with this in mind I decided to wear something that included neon in my outfit.

Whilst on twitter last week I saw a Marie Clare feature on Primark's Spring/Summer 2013 range and on browsing, I saw an amazing scarf that I had to go and check out. Unfortunately the said scarf was not in my local branch but I still managed to get hold of a different one (scarf addict that I am) in cream and black. I also decided to check out the costume jewellery and nabbed a few pieces too-notably neon which for me is the ideal way to dip into this trend for the Summer season.

So my Sunday outfit of choice was this old favourite blouse which is by Topshop and was a boot sale find a couple of summers ago for just £2. Im wearing it with my Japanese Michiko Koshino boyfriend style jeans and my hot pink studded flats:

I'm also wearing my new Primark yellow neon hoop earrings:

Here is a close up of the top-it's a real favourite find with a lot going on. Embroidered neon stars, skulls, birds and floral and leafy swirls:

A close up of my hot pink neon suede style studded flats which are really comfortable and a perfect weekend shoe:

For such a small area of blouse, there is a lot of detail going on in such a variety of neon and cobwebby stitched detailing:

Here is a close up to show my neon earrings- I really love neon but now I'm older a touch of it works better for me rather than investing in a particular item of clothing for this trend. Saying that, if I found the right item I would get a bag or footwear in neon yellow-it goes so well with white and denim for trendy Summer styling:

I am linking this outfit post to the lovely Patti of NotDeadYetStyle for Visible Monday.

Will you be wearing neon this season-maybe you already have an item of clothing or accessory in this trend or are you too awaiting to find the right piece for you?
