Designer Inspiration- Doing it Herve Leger Style!!

I've always loved body con styles and they were a great favourite of mine in the 80s. I decided I would like a bodycon piece so I had to have a drool over Herve Legers dresses and gain some inspiration from these styles:

One of my recent buys was this bodycon dress from Jane Norman, which was half price, down from £40 to £20.

What I like about it is I can wear a boyfriend style blazer or black leather jacket over it during the day and then take it off later, when feeling a touch more daring. It can be worn all year round, as I'll wear it in winter, over a black polo neck jumper and black opaque tights and boots.

Bags and Blazers

My love affair with jackets and blazers continues and in addition to the boyfriend style, long line and cropped blazers I already have, I wanted to add some summer jackets to my wardrobe.
So my recent trip to the Salvation Army brought dividends as I scooped this cropped white blazer and light grey linen blazer, for a total of £8.48.

Alex & Co white cropped blazer, £4.99

Laurel light grey linen blazer, £3.49

I also bought this leather bag at the PDSA for £2, which is by John Richmond at the Designers at Debenhams range. Wishing you all a fabulous weekend!!

Chanelling 80s Style-Pastels and bleached denim

Another 80s favourite trend of mine was body con, faded denim, pastels and florals.

I found this modern top by Per Una (Marks & Spencer) and I love how it combines my favourite looks into one piece. Of course I had to pair it with my faded distressed boyfriend style jeans by Lee Cooper and my new snakeskin gladiator style sandals.

Its a casual daytime style and the top can be worn all year round, as can the jeans!!

Denim Saga

I do love a bargain, especially when its a good quality one and I know I'm saving money too. My trip to the boot sale on Sunday only yielded one item, which was this Levis for Girls denim jacket for only £1.

Well, you can see how much I've saved than if I'd gone to the Levis store to purchase one!!

I have 2 Levis denim jackets now and my faded one from River Island. I gave some denim to the charity shop, which included another denim jacket I had and some denim skirts that didn't fit properly. I'd rather look out for some different ones as I'd gone off these items.

The beauty of thrifting means that items can be 'easy come, easy go' without feeling guilty. I had originally spent around £10 for 1 denim jacket and 3 denim skirts that I've now given to the charity shop and they now benefit from my fickleness!!

Outfit Post-Last weeks Missoni find

At last weeks boot sale, I found this Missoni tunic-I can't really class it as a dress because of the length, LOL!

Its ideal to wear during the day with leggings and my boyfriend style blazer and being a jersey material its very comfy too! For a bargain £3, I'll be wearing this quite regularly-what bargain will you be wearing a lot of this summer?

Vintage find at the boot sale

The great thing about boot sales is to expect the unexpected. I didn't go on Sunday because of the weather, so come Bank Holiday Monday, I was itching to go, despite the constant threat of rain. I got a lovely 80s georgette (like chiffon) cream blouse (£1), a Miss Selfridge floral cami/tunic (50p), a grey Oasis tunic (50p), a vest top (50p) and a skirt (50p).

But my favourite find of the day is this vintage 50s or 60s guipure lace dress by Laura Phillips for only £2.50. The dress is quite heavy and I'm so pleased its devoid of any marks and also fits like a glove!! I haven't sourced some real vintage (pre 70s) from the boot sale for ages, so was very pleased with this find.

I'll definitely wear it in Summer, I'm just sending it to the cleaners so it will be ready to wear in the finer weather to come!

Thrift Inspiration- Doing it Vogue Style-Micro Florals

Vogue has recently re-introduced its 'More dash than cash' feature, which used to appear years ago and is revisited again this season. This month's feature is on 'Micro Florals' which is going to be a big trend for this summer.

It's a great stylish classic, which can be worn on skirts, shirts, dresses and tops and is great if you can find a vintage piece, especially if its a Liberty or Laura Ashley piece.

Inspired by this and going through my wardrobe, I only had 'big florals' and fancied tapping into the trend, through thrifting of course!!

So I was pleased to pick up this camisole top by Target for only £1 at the PDSA charity shop and also this gorgeous Ralph Lauren tiered cotton skirt for only £3!!

The ideal way to wear micro florals is with an oversized boyfriend style blazer, a biker jacket or denim. Will you tap into this trend for summer?

Questions, Questions!!

I've been tagged by the lovely Kate from Fashion and Film-here are the guidelines if you've been tagged:

1. Respond and rework. Answer the questions on your blog, replace one question you dislike with a question of your own invention; add a question of your own.
2. Tag eight other un-tagged people.

What is your current obsession?

Well, now the seasons started, it has to be the boot sales. I went Sunday and scored an authentic Missoni tunic/dress for £3, an American Apperel tee for £1-above, Topshop 'Minnetonka style' suede ankle fringe boots for £4-below, and lots of music CDS to sync onto my I-POD, my other current obsession of the moment!!

Good fika place?(That would be coffee to us non-Swedes)

Well, it would be Costa Coffee or the Marks & Spencer cafe for either a mocha with cream or a cup of Earl Grey tea.

Do you nap a lot? No, I wish I could though!

Who was the last person you hugged? Hubby earlier on the couch!

What’s my favourite dinner? Paella from Aldis-deliciously yummy, with hubbys homemade chips and chinese style spare ribs-not healthy, but sure tastes good!!

What was the last thing you bought? The items from the boot sale that I mentioned above!!

What are you listening to right now? 'If you want it' Ike and Tina Turner, Livin For The City

What is your favourite weather? Hot, hot and more hot sunny weather if you please!!

What's in your bathroom cabinet? Shower gel, shampoo and clearasil lotion--boring essentials!!.

Say something to the person/s who tagged you. Dear Kate, one of my fave bloggers, I'm so pleased you are still in blogworld despite giving up Make Do Style. I'm enjoying reviews of films that I haven't watched yet or haven't heard of-thanks my dear!!

If you could have a house totally paid for, fully furnished anywhere in the world, where would you want it to be? Somewhere hot, with lots of scope for self sufficiency!!

Favourite vacation spot? Anywhere, I enjoy different places and experiences.

Name the things you can’t live without. Of course, family is number one, then it has to be thrifting and listening to music, my favourite obssesions of the moment.

What is your favourite tea flavour? Definitely Earl Grey.

What would you like to get rid of? Terrorism all around the world.

What did you want to become as a child? A bank manager, LOL!

What do you miss? Hot weather on a daily basis.

What are you reading right now? I'm really not into reading books at the moment, so I have to own up to this weeks Grazia and the latest Elle.

What's your favourite brand of jeans? Has to be Levis.

What designer piece of clothing would you most like to own (new or vintage)? A perfect fit, original 80s Alaia dress.

My own question

Would I live my life differently to how I do now? I feel really good about life, I have a lovely family, a great job that doesn't pay much but has advantages such as great holidays and good hours, I indulge in thrifting as often as I choose and I'm happy enough. I'm 40 this year and I can honestly say I'm fine with life thanks.

I'm tagging : Asian Cajuns, Eri, Em-Passion for Fashion, Janet Taylor, La Mimi, La Couturier, Saray and Secretista-thanks ladies!!

Thrift inspiration

Cat Power shows how mixing denim head to toe can look good, in Levis latest ad campaign.

I thrifted this Levis engineered jacket this week for only £3.25 and thought I'd wear it with my Levis slouch jeans for a casual, comfy style.

I like the fitted style of this jacket, I'll certainly wear it with some floral dresses in summer.

Designer Inspiration- Doing it Bulgari Style!!

Well, didn't I say in my last bag post that my next one will be a nude/beige carry style, but I must admit I didn't think I'd find or get one this quickly!!

Eva Mendes and Frida Pinto with their Bulgari Dahlia bags

Inspired by this gorgeous Bulgari Dahlia, I knew I wanted something similiar, that was a carry style, slightly slouchy and big enough, as I've been buying tiny bags recently.

So, I was pleased to come across this lovely Jasper Conran bag at Debenhams, which had been reduced from £85 to £68, is leather and certainly big enough for all those essentials.

So another item ticked off the wishlist-I think I may have enough bags for the moment, LOL!!
