Sharonrosepixie.blogspot.co.uk NOW Thriftmystyle.com and debut of the Mulberry scarf

As you may already see, my blog has been edited to add it's new name of Thriftmystyle.com as well as the URL of sharonrosepixie.blogspot.co.uk so any existing and new readers can access my blog from either one, no changes are required as it should automatically redirect you to thriftmystyle! Please do let me know if you have problems with reaching my site!

Onto a more stylish note, I debut my new Mulberry scarf yesterday that I purchased in the Liberty sales in London last week. It is gloriously long, wide and warm-being a mix of 80% wool and 20% cashmere ensures it is stylish as well as cosy. Here it is in the 'Sycamore' colourway on sale at Mulberry.com:

Mulberry Sycamore Leopard and Tiger print wrap, was £295, now £177
Liberty's discount was a further £30 on top so I got my one for half price, but only in store.

I am wearing my blue version of the scarf with my thrifted black leather Primark biker jacket and my Marks and Spencer black faux fur bolero on top of it; thrifted black skinny jeans by River Island; black Chanel handbag; black thrifted Versace boots and grey baker boy style hat:

I am also wearing a thrift find from last week-the grey tee you can just see, it's by H! by Henry Holland for Debenhams and was from the Sense charity shop for £3. The jeans were also from the charity shop a couple of weeks ago for just £2.69.

I have become rather a scarf addict this winter and will be doing a post soon of my other scarves that I purchased and were gifts last month. As well as bags and shoes, scarves are a wonderful accessory investment-not only do they last for years, but they don't succumb to 'size' issues and can really add that bit extra to an outfit- as well as keeping you cosy of course!!

Scarves are definitely one of my guilty repeat buys-I can't seem to get enough of them, regardless of style, fabric or make-it can be Primark or Missoni, if it suits my chosen outfit then I'm hooked!!

Are you guilty of repeat buying of certain items-are you getting the most out of them?

Recent thrift finds from the boot sales

Hi everyone!! No boot sales today, the morning started rainy so it's a day in for me, catching up on housework and blogging!!

I thought I would show some of my recent thrift finds. Last Sunday's boot sale was where I found these leather Wrangler cowboy boots, battered and worn, but with lots of life still to go in them:
Wrangler leather cowboy boots, £2

I also found these Gianni Versace navy suede loafers, worn but still in quite good nick!

Gianni Versace Versus navy suede loafers, £3

My favourite find of the month was at the same booty but 2 weeks ago, these Zara maroon flat chelsea boots for £2:

Yesterdays boot sale was where I found this jacket by St Martins- I love the floral styling for summer, plus the back detailing makes it rather unique looking too:

St Martins jacket, £2.50

I have been after one of these Panther bracelets for soo long now-the lady wanted £5, but I paid £4 for it-I think its an 80s one as it is quite heavy and the diamante is all still intact too:

As I started this post, it was sunny and as I am finishing it it is torrential rain-typical British weather and not one of the better days!! Never mind, I hope you all have a good week ahead, sunny or not!

Vintage Versace Fest!!

As you may know, I've been a fan of Gianni Versace for a while. My love affair started when I purchased this 90s Gianni Versace dress above on my very first A.B.C meet with the gorgeous Wendy Brandes back in July 2008.

This was my first Versace piece and in April I was so excited to pick up at my local charity shop The Art and Craft of Gianni Versace, see my post on it here.

It has been great to see how Lady Gaga has embraced vintage Versace and last month Grazia did a post on it and showed off some absolutely stunning pieces being sold by Zone7Style. I've just been browsing their Versace pieces and totally drooling-check out their amazing collection here

Lady Gaga wearing vintage Versace in her own ecletic, quirky stylish way:

Well onto my amazing find which is a 90s Versace Film Poster jacket:

I'm wearing it just with a cami and jeans but my full intention is to wear it with my cobalt blue Versace jeans.

Then again, maybe not, as head to toe in one label may not work that well, I'll have to try and see!

I was especially pleased to see that Zone7Style have the Versace film poster skirt in cord but I certainly could not wear the whole look as a suit!!!

Its only a few months until the eagerly awaited H&M and Versace collection.

So what is you opinion on Versace-vintage, modern or the new collaberation?

Book Find of the Month-Gianni Versace and also my Decade Musings!!

I thought I'd take a wander to my local Sue Ryder as I hadn't visited it for quite a little while. I was pleased I did as I found this V&A book, The Art and Craft of Gianni Versace which accompanied the first major exhibition in the UK since Gianni's death.

I haven't read it, but had to show these wonderful pictures of his stunning works:

Famed for his bright and bold prints back in the 80s and 90s, this book is a wonderful representation of his designs and collections and also features Donatellas work too.
I would definitely recommend this and I can't wait to have a proper read through!!

I am a fan of vintage and if I have to choose favourite designers, my long term favourite is definitely Ossie Clark. I love Celia Birtwells prints and paired with the cuts of Ossies dresses, his pieces are simply stunning. I also love Jean Varons floaty floral maxi dresses and also the era of Studio 54 and the disco glam clothes. Maybe because the 80s was my era, I adored body con pieces-still do and would happily dress in Hunza and lycra tight dresses back in the day, what with Alaia being out of my price range!! I also love Thierry Muglers sculptural shapes and am fortunate to have a couple of his vintage pieces too.

Over the last few months I've really fell for Gianni Versaces work-I love the vibrant colours and patterns and the tight clothes he designed back in the day. So to find this book was a fabulous find for me. I now have my copy of Judith Watts Ossie Clark 1965-1974 and now The Art and Craft of Gianni Versace, which fulfills my vintage style inspirations from the late 60s to the late 90s.

What decades are you inspired by and are there any designers whose work you especially love?
