Season Basic-A Black Skirt

Well, this isn't really so much a season basic, more a wardrobe basic, but funnily enough before I bought this, I didn't have a black skirt in my wardrobe (only a work one-that doesn't count!!)

So, I spied this black pencil skirt which judging by the style, you would not think is by good old Marks & Spencer. It has a great stretch to it, giving it a good fit, but it was the zipper detailing that really sold it to me. This was from the British Heart Foundation charity shop for £3.99.

I'm sure this will be a very versatile piece in my wardrobe and I'll wear it this winter with opaques, heeled boots, a woollen jumper and one of my biker jackets.

Very interesting zipper feature! I have a bunch of black skirts....all lengths and various fabrics, etc. I should look for such interesting details as this to keep my black skirts from being boring!

And I'm still looking for boots - at the right price, of course!

I look forward to seeing you in the outfit you describe here!

a black skirt is really hard to find. I'd like to find a black jumper, for those moments when my Mom would prefer I wore something like that on certain occasions. I am wondering if I'll have to make it

I saw a really cool book about cutting up sweaters for so many things. A great way to recycle stuff into a new keepsake.

Black skirts are definitely the most versatile item ever. I have actually been looking for one I can wear during the summer months, because the only one I have right now is made of wool. It's surprisingly difficult to find the perfect piece! Congrats on finding such a lovely piece and for such a great price!

1st of all, being a comment fiend, I am so jealous of how many you get you lucky duck! Second, that zipper IS the sell. It makes it stand out and revealed zippers are SO on trend. I am dying for a plain black pencil skirt. I have the craziest wardrobe and lack a basic black button down and a pencil. I need to snag one as well--BUT YOU GET TO THEM FIRST!!! xoxoxoxooxx One of 365

Great find! I remember finding a skirt like this at a regular shop at the end of summer and almost bought it. But I have too many skirts lol! I think it will look beautiful on you.
