Hi everyone!! Its a lovely sunny afternoon and I have been suitably inspired to do a post (at long last!) based on what is inspiring me for this coming summer season.
Dolce & Gabbana are chanelling picturesque Italian summertimes from the 1950s and on seeing their latest ad campaign, the gorgeous eggplant dress made me pull out my original 50s dress that my mum wore back in the day and which I still proudly wear.
It hasn't got a veggie print but the cut and style is virtually the same as the D&G one, I just had to show you all. It goes without saying I will be wearing this a lot this spring and summer!
I would say the 50s is definitely one of my favourite fashion eras, the bold prints, fitted styling and Italian inspired pieces really make this a chic and fabulous choice for the coming season:

I'm massively 70s right now. I flirted with posh vintage (ie pre-1960) but I have to admit, I'm a disco girl and if you cut me I bleed glitter. Flares and chiffon all the way!
I'm a total 50s girl too and I've been looking longingly at that very ad campaign... Amongst others. It all seems to be about the 50s and 60s this season. I adore that dress, can't wait to see you in it. X

That dress is so very much like the one on the lovely campaign, isn't it? You always look so elegant and willowy when you wear it.

Hello dear friend. This dress reminds me of one my mother used to have and which I eventually transformed for my own when I was still 18 or so. The fabric was divine, large floral prints in purple and green against a stark white background. You don't find such beautiful fabric anymore.... I had really enjoyed sewing it....ah, those were the days!

OMG I adore the dress -- so Mad Men!! Do you have that show in England, by the way? I'm absolutely obsessed with it, and all things Mid Century. Mainly the furniture but the clothes too. Something about early '60s style that's fascinating to me.
