Collection

As a few of you may be aware, I have been collecting Ossie Clark and Celia Birtwell pieces for a couple of years now. The inspiration to collect came from an original Ossie Clark that I thrifted and sold on for a very good profit, but this inspired me to source pieces and start collecting.

To date, I have 2 black Ossie Clark for Radley dresses and 1 floral Ossie Clark for Radley below. The Celia Birtwell pieces I have are 3 floral tea dresses-2 shown below, 4 blouses and 1 Celia B plain black dress. I also have a couple of pieces by Jean Paul Gaultier-a black waistcoat and denim jean jacket and 2 pieces by Jean Muir-a black dress and a navy wool crepe jacket. I have single pieces of Zandra Rhodes, Thierry Mugler, Vivienne Westwood, Yves Saint Laurent, Issey Miyake and Comme des Garcons.

One of my favourite ladies, Wendy Brandes has an extensive and beautiful collection of Ossie Clark dresses-http://wbjewelry.blogspot.com/search/label/Ossie%20Clark/ .You must view these on her blog-I do from time to time and constantly swoon over her stunning collection!

For me, thrifting has become the ideal and realistic way to collect vintage and modern designer fashion, which is essentially what my blog was designed to be all about. I've made a conscious decision recently to not shop on Ebay anymore, as I personally need to fully appreciate the numerous pieces I already have, be able to wear what I've got once in a while and for me, to essentially find these bargains at stupendous prices from the boot sales and charity shops.

I have only really started seriously collecting vintage and modern designer fashion in the last couple of years-when the boys were younger, although I liked clothes and fashion, I never really was seriously into it that much. The boys are older now and although I have cash restraints my time and knowledge has improved and this is how I put it to good use-doing my blog and thrifting-my two main hobbies!!!

I would love to know what inspires you to buy the clothes you do-is it magazines, friends, fellow bloggers and do you also collect-certain designers, accessories, dresses-you name it, I'd love to hear about it, please!!

Vogue-Ageless Style

My favourite magazine Vogue, dedicated its July issue to Ageless Style, which is a cracking read for everyone of all ages. I think it is a tribute that fashion and style is not solely earmarked for people in their 20s or 30s and there are plenty of articles and pictures to show how everyone if so interested, can really be so fashionable and or stylish at any age.
Following on from yesterdays post on denim, it inspired me to show you all this article, which bestows the virtues of denim right through to your 60s and 70s-if Lauren Hutton can work the trend, then anyone can!! I adore denim and jeans and now I'm in my late 30s, I have no intention of giving them up-hopefully I'll look as good in 30 years time in my flares or bootcuts-or even skinnys-ha ha!

The same goes for dressing up-over sixty certainly isn't frumpy-well Lauren doesn't look it!!

I know it doesn't necessarily apply to the majority of you fellow ladies-I reckon the majority of you are not even 30 yet-ha ha!!, but what it goes to show that whatever age you are, trends are there to share if you so wish and if you are stylish or fashion savvy enough, you will rock them!!

Boot Sale Sunday-No bags but vintage designer bargains!!

Well it was a good result at the boot sale for bargains today-I spent a total of £5 and I got some designer bargains in this, so I was well pleased :-)

These first two are of the vintage 80s body con Thierry Mugler top I got for only 50p-yes, 50p!! The man wanted a £1, but he couldn't change a £5 note, so I gave him the only coin I had at that time 50p-ha ha!! I also got these DKNY sateen dress skinny trousers for only £1, too!

I was also chuffed to see this vintage Celine silk tea dress for- yes, you guessed it-50p!! I must admit, it's not my style, but walking pass this is like walking past Chanel or Hermes for 50p-peanuts, huh!! I do like the dress, but I am wondering whether I would wear it-I'll keep it and see if an occasion does arise!!

Then, on talking about sequins in yesterdays post and seeing rice and beans vintage blogspot post on sequins, gave me the inspiration to buy this for £1 too! I could wear this over a top or be daring and wear it with nothing underneath-done up, of course!!

Black vintage sequin vest (waistcoat)

I didn't buy just for myself- I also got little Robert an NBA Lakers basketball vest (tank) for £1!
UPDATED TO ADD-I'm thinking about cutting the skirt off the Celine dress to leave a blouse-what do you think? Or, I could alter it and make the length shorter-opinions please!!
