Shopping my wardrobe-Utility jacket

Its been hard to know what to wear jacket wise when the weather has been cold and you want to lose the layers.

The new trend to cover this transitional period is the 'utility jacket', as seen on Whitney Port and Rachel Bilson in Grazia last month:

I was gifted a Gap utility jacket before Christmas and because it has a thick lining, I've been wearing it since January:

Its actually a Gap Kids one, but I love the fit and if I turn the sleeves up, you can see the bright orange lining!!

I'm wearing it with my thrifted Levi skinnys, which I purchased in the Cancer Research charity shop in Muswell Hill last month for £10.

Will you be in utility this season?

That's a fabulous jacket and it's Gap Kids? No wonder it has fun orange lining.

Happy weekend! xoxo

I wouldn't mind some skinny cargo pants, now that you bring up this look.

Hi, you really suit this look, I have an ancient coat like that which is fairly thin so I have been layering a sheepskin gilet over it. I think it makes a nice change to a trench x

Nice - looks good with the red polo neck. I am completely obsessed with military at the moment, I have a jacket a bit like yours which I've been meaning to blog about so watch this space....

I am definitely seeking a utility inspired trench :)

I needed that jacket yesterday! The weather is so changeable lately - it was VERY chilly and windy here....

Probably I won't be adding a utility jacket to my jacket cache. It is full and I need to wear what I have before adding more!

Forget utility this season, this is for life. I have a similar jacket to your thrifted one (and I paid a shitload more too, boo) and I wear it in summer, spring, autumn and winter. I love how it seems to perfect every outfit.

I love your look here, just spot on.

Khaki goes with everything and always looks great with jeans. I hate this in-between weather- too cold for my this cotton jackets and too hot for my fake fur! I love exciting linings, great when you take off your jacket over a chair.

Can't go wrong with a bit of military!!
Mind you you wouldn't need any jackets this weekend. How lovely has it been xx

It takes ages for a jacket so look so good (i.e. nicely worn in). Yeap, I think I will do a bit of utility too.

yesterday, I saw clerk at Old Navy with a light-weight jacket similar to this. It was really cute..but I didn't see it anywhere in the store. Just my luck. I did find a dress on clearence there.
