Well, winter is well and truly on its way and there's no better way of cosying up than wearing a hand knit chunky knit sweater or cardigan.
From designer to high street this is a trend which has so many different styles to suit all tastes and budgets and patterned or plain, it really is worth investing in at least one or two to see you through the winter.
They go so well with skinny jeans, floral tea dresses or the latest trend midi skirt. Here are my favourite picks which are currently available at Net-A-Porter and Topshop:
Etro, £360 from Net-A-Porter
Proenza Schouler, £785 from Net-A-Porter
Jil Sander, £1320 from Net-A-Porter
Fair Isle, Topshop, £38
Tweedy cable knit Topshop, £40
As you all know from my previous jumper posts, I do love chunky knits and here are a couple I picked up during the summer from my thrifting trips to the boot sale:
They are both chunky knits and were a complete bargain-the green was £1 and the multi colour knit was £2!! The charity shops have now started putting out their winter stocks so using these knits as inspiration, why don't you go and hunt down a stylish cosy bargain for much less than the high street or designer versions?
What sort of style of knit will you be wearing this winter?

Dear Sharon,
I am well into my chunky knits at the moment. Our pad gets desperately cold in the winter so in order to save on bills I pretty much live in chunky jumpers.
I love that last one of yours, it's gorgeous!
Take care luv,
Jennie...x
the patterned one is really adorable!
I'm going to wear my mango kimono cardis from the last winter clearance, my free people gems and my all saints kimono cardis - I love it soft and floaty :)
I was out shopping today - got myself a pretty knit jumper by Jil Sander. I was in Frankfurt so I called round at the boutique there.
I love that chunky multicoloured knit. I mainly get mine from charity shops, my most recent purchase was a large chunky black cardie - £2 and will keep me super snug at work over christmas
I'm so into chunky knits this season. I wish I still had all the ones I had in the 1980's. I love the blue one. xx
I don't wear jumpers, I get overheated and cranky but you're right there's some real bargains in the charity shops, I spotted loads on my travels today.
That green handknit is a beauty. x
I do love my toasty chunky knits. Aran knits are my favourite and I have a couple of those, in fact I'm wearing one now :-) x
I managed to get a few bargains over the summer for my youngest, however I haven'y been quite so lucky for me!
I adore the green jumper. but then I do have a thing about green!

The one from Jil Sander<3
Fab finds - I saw a couple in my local charity shops today. Must go back for a proper look xx
Chnky knits and hot flushes don't mix. I am avoiding chunky knitwear like the plague this year!
I like the petite white & black one from Top Shop best.... those knits are a real find...
I am wearing something which would barely cover by bum as the sweater dress it's supposed to be, but is great as a jumper. I think your charity shop bargains are easily the equal of anything on the high street, and although I'm not immune to designer lust - I find it hard to believe anyone would pay nearly a grand and a half for a jumper when you could buy a pony or a second hand car instead!
Why do knits have to be so chunky? I want skinny knits!
Great collection, my favorites are the green ones and the black and white ones. For winter, I'll probably be wearing some sweaters paired with men shirts.
I never used to bother with jumpers because they make me too warm but lately have been feeling cold so perhaps I need to invest in some. That black and white one is amazing.
Just the kind of thing I'm after... this has given me some good ideas. The Net-A-Porter ones are great.
