I so admire Jane Birkins casual style, she looks effortlessly chic whatever she wears and is a great source of inspiration when wanting to get that perfect casual look:
I'm really not a chinos girl, I adore denim and jeans and have a good collection of denim skirts, denim jackets and jeans. But an abundance of blue can get boring.
I was really chuffed to find these Gap chinos, which are from this summer season-a bargain at £4.55 in my local Heart Foundation charity shop. So, what to wear with them?
I decided to pair it with my M&S grey cashmere cardigan, which I adore-it has little glass buttons and is so cosy and stylish. Underneath I've a grey cami top.
Footwear isn't Converses or plimsoles, I'm wearing my newly acquired leopardprint satin ballet pumps, which have a gorgeous faux diamante detail on them. They were new from Matalan for only £12-see them online here!!
How are you doing casual this season?

How elegant you look, my dear! Those chinos are a perfect fit and the cardi and groovy pumps finish the look off a treat.
Have a lovely weekend. xxx
You look adorable..great casual look....I am doing blue jeans with a fancy blouse and plain vest as my casual this season ;D but I will have to pull out my khakis and try this out...and I also just found some really cute distressed corduroys at my last thrifting trip so I am sure I can have fun with them as well for casual~ Some great ideas here ~Heather
How am I doing casual??? Very casually, of course!
I think those little glass buttons sound charming - and the whole outfit looks both attractive and comfortable. Great shoe! Just the right "touch"!
Dear Sharon, Vix is right, you look very elegant and lovely. The shoes jazz it up nicely too xx
This is a REALLY good look on you, so simple and chic. Top work!
Love this look, casual but so stylish, with the colour combo just perfection!!!
Have a nice weekend, dear
xoxo
Wow!You look very casual chic, sort of updated Katharine Hepburn. Much classier than jeans. Love the way you have paired the pale coffee chinos with the grey cardigan and the leopard print ballet pumps. Genius! I love my Gap chinos though have to admit I don't look quite as chic or as slim (!)as you. See you Sunday.
I love Gap clothes, those chinos are such a bargain. I've bought a couple of black chino type trousers for the casual look so it makes a change from Denim
You find the best things, I love finding out what your latest acquisition is :)
I like your cardigan.
That's such a good look - still haven't recovered from meeting Jane Birkin!
This look really suits you.
Loving the grey cardi with them, I shall try this!
Ah, I adore your ballerinas, trousers and pretty cardigan - Indeed, casual is my new 'Chic' this season - Long, black Italian lace skirt paired with grey tee and black cardigan - on my feet - bejewelled ballerinas and a Hat.
Have a fun weekend;-)
U look so fantastic!
♥
You look so elegant. I've had to get my sweaters out this weekend.
How did I miss the post? You look great and so casual, exactly the way I like to dress. I am adoring your shoes. Maybe next time you wear them you can take a close up!
~Bonnie
just saw this one too - also love the muted colors on you!
Wonderful chinos! They fit you so well and you look very American classic/JCrew! The ballet flats are right on.
I'd love to find a pair of chinos but have never succeeded. :o(
But I'm still looking! I think they're so versatile and a great alternative to jeans.
