Piling on the layers

As much as its nice to cosy up in winter, sometimes I feel like (and look like) a Michelin man, with all the layers I pile on to keep out the cold. I met the manager of my local charity shop in the post office and remarked how cold it was. But being from Aberdeen, he thought the days weather was mild, LOL! I wish I was made of sterner stuff!

This outfit was all about warmth, as opposed to making any style statement-that can wait for another day, LOL! I have on my thermal vest, my polo neck body, cashmere mens black v neck, 80s vintage C&A blue waistcoat, wool tights, black Topshop leggings, H&M legwarmers and my Rocket Dog black sheepskin Ugg style boots-Beat that, LOL! I still wore my parka and pashmina to brave the 20 minute round trip trek to the post office, haha!!

Going back about nearly 20 years ago, I never felt the cold, especially when I went out clubbing to discos and parties and rarely wore a coat in the heart of winter-oh to be that brave now, LOL!! How brave are you in winter-do you need to pile on the layers or do you not feel the cold too much in sub zero temperatures?

I remember those days when I didn't want to wear a coat because I would have to check in the cloak room. Yes those days are over but now you can have days with that fabulous vintage leopard print coat or your wonderful sheepskin jacket. You have beautiful coats and I'm sure that you look wonderful even when you are just going to the post. Happy New Year Sharon.

I think you set some kind of layering record with this outfit.

Hi Sharon Rose - I dressed up warm. On my office is warmth because of the many computers, but outside is very cold. I am not really prone to be shivering with cold, but I take care of my health. Leather gloves, wool scarf, sweetie hat... :)

I love your outfit. Your blue waistcoat is similar Missoni stylish.

Have a great weekend
kisses: Janet

I know exactly what you mean...I try to look stylish in the winter , but some days when it hits -20 in Toronto, I just don't give a s$#& and I pile on as much clothes as I can...hehe

Oh it's always function over fashion in these sub-zero times! I also used to be made of sterner stuff, I would never wear a jacket out clubbing in my uni days and would always be wearing the tiniest skirt and top! It must just be colder these days..! Hope you have a fabulous 2009

I like how you layered this outfit, it was'nt piles and piles of random pieces, like you worn 10 things at one time. I've seen this on some "street fashion" sites and it just seems like a crazy trend to me. It was smartly done because it still showed off your figured. I will be glad however, when folks move away from excessive layering, even though I think the retailers won't like it much! LOL

Hi budget chic-thanks for such a lovely comment, I'm really dressing for warmth at the moment, it is soo cold in the UK, one of the coldest winters for years, LOL!

I am such a wimp when it comes to cold -- I don't even care how I look half the time in the winter, because I just want to be warm!! ;)
