Thrift Inspiration, Shearling Style

Well its that time of year where style and fashion is focused on the Autumn and Winter season and one of the big and very popular looks is the aviator shearling, readily available from high end designer to high street. Here are my favourites of those about this season:

Julien McDonald

Tommy Hilfiger

Wunderkind

Well how pleased I was to have kept hold of my bargain from around 3 years ago. This vintage shearling jacket is incredibly warm and follows this seasons trend and was a bargainous £7 from the Salvation Army charity shop. The last few winters it's been worn more as a warmth than style item, but I think this winter it will come into its own with all the others that will be sported by many!!

Will you be doing the shearling Aviator look this winter?

I saw a great old tan suede jacket with shearling collar by Lakeland at a car boot today, sadly a little too big for me but was bang on trend! My Dad being a long-serving fan of the classic cabriolet has loads in our upstairs cupboard but unfortunately all far too big for me- boo! Some great orignal pieces out there though, get the authentic vintage version!

very nice! i have been wanting a shearling for years but it's only been a year since i moved away from tropical no-winter weather haha. .

now i am crossing my fingers and hoping i'll stumble onto one in a charity shop.

thanks for the tip btw-- will definitely keep an eye out for charity shops when i hit East London.

Hahaha I have a brilliant aviator style 'shearling' ( WTF in England we used to call them sheepskin jackets!) Anyway I have one which is nicely worn in, has kept me warm every winter for years but because deeply unfashionable had been meaning to take to a charity shop but never got round to it. Hooray! And the funny thing is, it belonged to my (now grown up) daughter who swapped it for something precious of her own (WTF?) at school with someone now rather famous on TV who was then just a classmate. So this old woman will be strutting her stuff A/W 2010 season in Angelica Bell's cast off sheepskin aviator jacket (but please don't tell her - unless she is willing to return the 1980s collectable Swatch watch). Think I will blog about it when the snow comes. Haha!

I love the shearling Aviator style and I wish I could find one piece on my budget, but I don't think so.
So I'm green of envy (lol) with yours, so great.
Maybe I'll go through internet to steal it from you... take care.. lol

I've had a long black shearling coat for 10 years ...but a little aviator jacket would be a nice addition!

Had a jacket similar to this with fluffier shear which fell apart - I used it to its oblivion. I have to admit I don't really like winter - I'm always so cold. But I just bought a nice and lively jacket on sale, so wearing it is something to look forward to....

Hi again Sharon - thanks for your comment on mine. I will def do a blog post on my sheepskin aviator jacket soon. In fact I bought a very nice almost new sheepskin jacket (longer style) at a boot fair today. So feeling very smug - though not exactly praying for snow!

Love your jacket! :o)

Wish I could wear shearling, but I can't quite carry it off. But I love how it's both practical (warmth) and good looking.
