I posted earlier this week of the dilemmas faced in my 20/80 syndrome-I received excellent advice, all gratefully received and I do intend taking it all on board. Which is why I also acted on the lovely Marian at House of Style's advice. As a fellow UK blogger, she is also aware how cold it gets over here and I am really not a fan of cold wintry weather, draughts and chills. So, when she suggested I wear my lovely dresses, but with woolly tights and boots, and then layers of cardi or gilet and coat, I thought, yes, I can do this!!
So, off I trotted to my local Marks and Spencers this afternoon and picked up the brown tights in the 2nd picture-they are cotton rich thermal opaque tights with wool for £6 and also come in black.
The 1st picture is of the Autograph merino wool blend tights which are £9-they come in navy, grey, black and brown-I will get the grey ones very soon. Click on my title link which will take you directly to M&S online store, for these and other lovely winter warmers!!
I can't wait to get cosy, haha!! Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

I'm thinking of getting a pair of Wolford tights. I've never had a pair before. I want to see if they're "all that."
Hi there-I've heard Wolford tights are very good indeed, I'm hoping the M&S ones keep me cosy as well.
My heart belongs to the winter tights at Roots. That being said, I remember when I was little and M&S used to be in Canada and I miss that lots, they were awesome.
Congrats on your new purchases and hope you're having a wonderful Friday!!
xo
They are roasty toasty aren't they!
Hi S-thanks for your lovely comment and have a great weekend my dear!
Hi Kate-Love the new monniker!! There are 2 good reviews on the brown ones, so hopefully they will be roasty toasty!!
love these! they actually seem opaque enough (something that i can never seem to find). have a fabulous weekend!
Hi Emily-thanks my dear, have a good one too!
£6 thats a bargain, I might buy a pair. I've never tried M&S or Wolford tights. I'm a falke girl, I usally buy 4 or 5 pairs of Matt 50 tights every winter (they're £11/£12 a pair) but they wash really well and don't run, they will last me all winter and they're silky soft. However, next tiime im in M&S i'll check out their tights!
Those do look cozy!
I'm so glad the weather is cooling down! Now all the cozy, warm, wintery clothes can come out =]
Oooohh, I wish we had Marks & Sparks over here - we don't have anything like it in the states.
Hi ladies who lunch-yes, the £6 pair has great reviews on their website, so I'm expecting good things from them!
Hi Sophia-yes, I agree, I'm looking forward to layering up!
Hi asian cajuns-yup, good old M&S generally come up trumps when you're after something in particular!
I used to wear Wolford tights, but I stopped after realising that it really wasn't worth all the extra expense. They look and feel nice, but aren't any more durable. Buying a pair of £20 tights and putting your foot through them when you put them on for the first time is infuriating!
Hi miss thrifty-well, the M&S ones are really warm and comfy, for £6 I do recommend them!! That must of been so frustrating, grr!
i can't wear tights yet. we are having a heat wave here.
Hi savvy-oh lucky you, haha!!
Great choices Sharon, now you'll be nice and warm. a trick is to buy tons of tights during the sales,i pick mine up during sales for no more than 50p-£1 from places like topshop etc! that way i bulk buy them, last yr during the xmas sales I bought about 20 pairs for about £15 and they were all double knit, wooly ribbed ones etc. so keep an eye out on the sales honey!
xx
Marian
Hi marian-that is a fantastic idea!! I'll definitely go to the sales for tights, I didn't think of that!! Thanks for your lovely comment and for inspiring me to do this too!
